Birkett Long, the leading Essex law firm, has advised Fallow International Freight Limited, a freight forwarding specialist based in Romford, Essex, on the sale of a strategic stake in the business to CWT Globelink Pte Limited, the freight logistics arm of Singapore listed CWT Limited.
Fallow has been renamed Globelink Fallow Limited and has joined Globelink’s global group, enabling it to leverage on Globelink’s network for greater growth. Since its inception in 1988 in Singapore, CWT Globelink has expanded its global network to more than 100 offices in 25 countries. Globelink will be able to tap Fallow’s strong local market knowledge and active business relationships to gain a stronger foothold in major ports in the UK.
Leading the team advising on the deal was Birkett Long’s David Wisbey, Chairman and partner in the firm’s commercial and corporate finance team. He said: “Thanks to the firm’s extensive experience of cross-border transactions and the efforts and goodwill of the parties, we were able to assist in completing the investment in a very short timescale, despite dealing with different cultures, legal concepts and time zones. This is an exciting development for Globelink Fallow and we wish them well.”
Bob Andrews, Managing Director of Globelink Fallow, said “David and his team at Birkett Long did an excellent job in steering us through the legal complexities involved in this transaction. We know CWT Globelink well, having worked with them for a number of years, and look forward to the benefits that our stronger link will bring.”
As well as legal and financial advice for businesses, Birkett Long provides a wide range of services for individuals, with a team of independent financial advisers.
With 22 partners, the firm has offices in Basildon, Chelmsford and Colchester.
