The Role

We have an exciting new role for a pragmatic and driven Trade Mark Attorney. 

The candidate will form a part of the Intellectual Property team which is based in both the Colchester and Chelmsford offices. There will be the opportunity for some working from home, if desired, in line with the Firm’s working from home guidelines.

This role could be full time or part time.

This is a rare opportunity to be a key part of a fast-growing Legal 500 Intellectual Property team within an award winning law firm. 

The Candidate

You will be a finals standard or fully qualified Trade Mark Attorney with ambition and commercial acumen. The role will involve providing practical advice to a broad portfolio of clients.

You will be involved in trade mark drafting, filing, prosecuting, oppositions and cancellations, advising stakeholders on IP strategy as well as the drafting of key agreements and assisting with queries from the wider legal team and business. A passion for the work is a must, and a degree of intellectual suppleness will be hugely helpful, as our work is complex and highly international in nature, so can be quite demanding. You will enjoy new challenges and will enjoy legal reading, learning and research. You may for example become involved in design work, domain name disputes and other types of work beyond the core work of a trade mark attorney and will be friendly and able to form ad hoc teams with people in other teams in order to solve multi-disciplinary problems for clients.

You will be able to deliver succinct, high quality advice with excellent client and team communication skills. The ideal candidate will also have an eye for detail, work with high levels of accuracy and possess the ability to work under pressure, prioritising effectively.

The role will likely involve marketing and business development and therefore the ideal candidate must be flexible enough to work outside normal office hours when required and preferably have their own vehicle as well as a clean driving licence.
