Getting Paid and other Construction Disputes

Birkett Long’s construction team has a wealth of expertise in contentious matters. These range from collecting unpaid valuations to dealing with extension of time and loss and expense claims. We also advise on other contractual issues such as suspension and termination.

We act in professional negligence matters advising both claimants and professional’s who are defending claims. We also advise those professionals in claims against insurers who refuse to indemnify.

We also deal with cases relating to defects in works carried out. We act for both builders and employers, including home owners who have had building works carried out at their homes. Other areas of advice include NHBC and public procurement disputes.

We use the full range of methods to resolve disputes including:

  • Adjudication and the enforcement of Adjudicators' decisions
  • Litigation - in the Technology and Construction Court, High Court and local County Court
  • Mediation
  • Negotiation
  • Arbitration

Peter Allen is a member of the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association (TeCSA) and the Society of Construction Law. In 2015 he became an accredited mediator.
