Selling a Property

Selling your home can feel like a stressful process, Birkett Long is here to help you with every step.

You will have a named residential property specialist from day one, who will be responsible for your case and available to answer your queries.

The process starts when you put your house up on the market and finishes when you hand over the keys to the buyer.

You have a buyer! What happens next?

Once you have found a buyer, Birkett Long's specialist team is on hand to provide advice and guidance to you on how to complete the necessary forms. We will draft the contract of sale and work with your buyer’s solicitors to ensure your sale is as smooth as possible thereafter.

Before you instruct Birkett Long, there are some things to think about;

  • Do you have a mortgage? How much is outstanding, and is there a redemption penalty?
  • If you are also buying a property, will your lender let you take your current mortgage product with you?
  • Are you buying a new property or moving into rented accommodation?
  • Have you instructed an estate agent?
  • Have you have had building work or alterations done? You will need to have copies of all the available permissions and documents.

It is best to give us instructions around the time you choose the estate agent so that we can start preparing the necessary paperwork for you.
