I enjoy the variety of clients and matters I am called upon to advise on. As a student, I enjoyed the academic side of employment law; it made natural sense to me to want to work in a field where I could apply that law to various situations. The evolving nature of the employer/employee relationship is something that continually interests me. I have worked in employment law for eighteen years, starting my career as an employment law solicitor doing mainly contentious claimant work. I then joined a national company in their in-house HR team, advising middle and senior management. The knowledge and experience I have gained over the years have enabled me to understand my client's legal, HR and commercial needs and provide them with considered and practical advice.

I chose to join Birkett Long as, being from Colchester, I have long been aware of their excellent reputation and work with charitable causes; working for an employer that has a strong social conscience is important to me and is one of the reasons why I am proud to be part of Birkett Long.
