Katherine Parker
Solicitor
Profile
I am a Solicitor in the Family Team at Birkett Long in the Colchester office. I specialise in divorce/dissolution, financial and children cases. I also have experience in cohabitee disputes, pre-and post-nuptial agreements and injunctions.
I enjoy helping people through difficult periods in their lives so that they can plan for the future and achieve certainty. I give my advice in a straightforward and clear way, together with striving to achieve the best possible result for clients.
I am a member of Resolution, an association of family lawyers who aim to resolve disputes in a constructive way that reduces conflict, together with offering practical solutions.
I studied Law at the University of Leeds, achieving a First-Class Honours degree. I then undertook my Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, where I gained a distinction and the following awards:
- Thomas Reuters Law Prize: most outstanding performance in stage 2 of the LPC.
- The Cambridgeshire and District Law Society Prize: best overall performance for compulsory LPC subjects.
- Cambridge and West Suffolk Resolution Prize: student with the best mark in the Family Law Elective on the LPC.
I qualified as a Solicitor in 2020 and specialised in Family Law six months before qualifying.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends together with long walks with my dog or riding my bicycle through the Essex countryside. I also like to be creative by painting and drawing.
