Karen Johnson
Senior Associate Solicitor
Profile
I take time to listen to my clients, so that I can offer relevant advice in plain English, which addresses their concerns, guides them through the process, protects their interests and enables them to plan for a better future.
I decided that I wanted to become a solicitor when I was 11 years old. It looked to me to be a job that would be interesting and varied. I considered that I had strong analytical and communication skills which allowed me to quickly assess a situation from all angles, identify solutions to problems (including those not so obvious) and that being a solicitor would allow me to use those skills to help people.
I work on a variety of different cases, dealing with issues such as pre and post nuptial agreements, divorce and separation, finances, child arrangements and cases which involve domestic abuse.
I am a Resolution Accredited Specialist in relation to Finance and Domestic Abuse and a Member of Resolution.
Before moving to Birkett Long, I was Chair of the East Herts and Broxbourne DV forum, a charity which operated in Hertfordshire to help raise awareness of domestic abuse and the organisations involved in assisting victims of domestic abuse. I have also offered my time as an honorary solicitor at a number of local CABs.
In my spare time I like reading, going to the gym and walks in the local countryside.
