Generally, you have three months less one day from the effective date of your dismissal to bring an employment tribunal claim. Before being able to issue a claim, you must register the claim with Acas under their early conciliation scheme. Your deadline for bringing a claim will be extended by the period of conciliation. Calculating the exact extended deadline can be difficult and we encourage you to take legal advice. We have prepared the below calculator as a guide to help you.
Effective date of termination
Your effective date of termination is the date on which your notice expired (where your job was terminated with notice) or the date on which the termination took effect (where you were dismissed without notice).
