Birkett Long is delighted to announce that Ben Molyneux has officially qualified as a Solicitor as of 1 September 2024.
Ben’s path to qualification has been both challenging and rewarding. In 2020, he graduated from the University of Reading with an LLB in Law. During his studies, Ben commuted from his home in Oxford and worked part-time in the construction industry in London with his father. He also gained invaluable practical experience through various work placements and vacation schemes at law firms. A standout moment was winning the National CEDR Negotiation Competition, after which he was invited to compete internationally. However, the event was unfortunately interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the cancellation of his international competition.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Ben pursued an LPC MSc at the University of Law in Reading. After graduation, he moved to Essex, where he accepted a position as a Paralegal at Birkett Long in the Dispute Resolution team for nearly a year before starting his Training Contract.
Ben completed seats in Dispute Resolution, Commercial Property, and Employment before returning to Dispute Resolution, where he found his passion. Ben notes, “I knew Dispute Resolution was the right area of law for me because no two days are the same. The variety keeps me engaged and continuously learning. I also enjoy attending court hearings, mediations, and conferences with counsel and clients, which adds a dynamic element to the role.”
Upon qualifying, Ben accepted a position in the Colchester Dispute Resolution team, where he will be specialising in insolvency. Reflecting on his journey, Ben shared, “I feel excited, relieved, and proud to have reached this milestone after all the years of studying. The support I received from the firm made a real difference. I’m excited to focus on insolvency and continue developing my career.”
Joann Kebbell, Director of HR and L&D at Birkett Long, remarked on Ben’s accomplishment, “Ben’s qualification reflects not only his dedication but also the firm’s commitment to developing our trainees. At Birkett Long, we believe in providing a supportive environment where trainees can grow and succeed. Ben’s achievement is a testament to this, and we’re excited to see what he will accomplish next.”
Ben is recognised within Birkett Long for his positive attitude and willingness to embrace new challenges, such as winning the Law South Mooting Challenge with Amy Scott – for the first time in Birkett Long’s history. He also values the firm’s emphasis on work-life balance, stating, “Birkett Long’s recognition of the importance of life outside of work is something I truly appreciate.”
We congratulate Ben Molyneux on qualifying as a Solicitor and wish him every success in his continued career at Birkett Long
