Jennifer Tully
Senior Associate Solicitor
Profile
I am a Senior Associate in the Commercial Property team. I specialise in land acquisition and disposals for housebuilders and landowners, with a particular focus on strategic land work (such as STP contracts, options, promotion agreements, and collaboration agreements).
Clients choose to work with me because I am recognised as an expert in my field and, importantly, a nice person who is easy to work with. I always strive to go the extra mile to deliver for my clients, as I appreciate how important each transaction is to them.
In the development world, commercial relationships can last the lifetime of a development scheme, which may be many years. Therefore, I recognise the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with all those involved in order to achieve an outcome that successfully balances the interests of all parties.
I pursued this career path because while studying for my Modern Languages degree at Southampton University, I got the chance to visit the European Parliament in Brussels. That sparked an interest in the legal sector, which resulted in undertaking various legal work experience placements. That then culminated in qualifying into Commercial Property. I love the tangible nature of real estate work. It is especially rewarding to see a development built out and occupied, for which I have played a part in its success.
Commercial Real Estate is also an ever-changing and evolving sector. I enjoy the challenge of meeting and adapting to these changes head-on, whether that be how we can utilise AI or legislative changes to address wider societal issues (for example, biodiversity net gain). But above all, I love working with a brilliant team of people and brilliant clients, which I am very lucky to have!
As well as specialising in strategic and instant land work, I also have extensive experience negotiating complex overage arrangements and how best to protect both parties' long-term interests in a development site.
Outside of work, I have two Romanian rescue dogs, which are quite a handful; training them is becoming my life's work! I enjoy running (very slowly) and have completed a couple of marathons to fundraise for Mind. I may yet have a third in me - watch this space! Otherwise, you'll find me with my nose stuck in a good book or gardening.
